Crankshaft and crankcase fits Patriot BP 41 and many other chainsaws. The crankshaft converts the piston’s up-and-down motion into rotational drive, running in bearings housed within the crankcase — the main cast housing that also forms the sealed crank chamber the two-stroke engine relies on to draw in and compress the fuel-air mixture. When the crankshaft’s bearing journals wear or its crank pin develops play, or the crankcase itself cracks or no longer seals correctly, the engine can develop excess crank play, a knocking noise, or a loss of crankcase compression. Fitting this matched crankshaft and crankcase restores correct crank support and a properly sealed crank chamber.
