When the pump’s internal plunger or diaphragm wears, or the bolts work loose and let the pump sit misaligned with its drive, oil output drops off or stops altogether, leaving the chain and guide bar running dry and prone to overheating and accelerated wear. Fitting a replacement oil drive pump restores correct oil delivery to the bar and chain.
