HUSQVARNA 362 365 371 372 Oil Drive Pump Worm Gear

Oil drive pump worm gear fits Husqvarna 362, 365, 371 and 372 chainsaws. The worm gear is mounted on the crankshaft and drives the oil pump rotor by direct mesh engagement, transferring rotational force to maintain a continuous flow of bar and chain oil to the guide bar during cutting. On the 362/365/371/372 series, the worm gear is a known wear item the helical teeth gradually strip under load, particularly when contaminated with sawdust or run dry. A stripped worm gear disengages the oil pump entirely, resulting in a dry bar and chain lubrication failure despite a full oil tank. Because the gear is inexpensive and accessible, it should be inspected whenever oil starvation is diagnosed before replacing the full pump assembly.
